What would our society, technology, economy, standards of living, etc. be live if humans lived 200 years?

Well first of all much more work would get done, just think about it a person goes to school ~15 years (!!!) so he can work for about 40. Now imagine each person can give his society not 40, but 140 years of work in a lifetime. And think of all the money he'd earn. The average person earns a million by retirement, but here people would earn more and be wealthier. And technology would probably go faster. What else?

1. the retirement age would be increased 2. the pre work period would probably be extended, with greater emphasis on education and 3. there would be more re-education periods throughout ones working life, as social and techmological change, even now, are increasing exponentially, we would need to be retrained for the new jobs and techniques of performing those jobs , through out work lives 4. your point about the balance of resources allocated to workers would have especial signficance in relation to a)superranuation institutions which would have far greater economic power in relation to the current balance of economic power between our current major financial institutions b) the relationship between the power of consumers in currently comparatively wealthy countries and the power of productive workers in the rising societies, like China, India and Brazil ...these tensions might well increase the risk of global conflict 5 We would be faced with a severe problem of population increases unless the birth rates were altered to balance the decline in death rates , especially as womens fertile years would probably be extended with the increase in their life expectancy. 6. Our cultural norms and values about sexuality, age, attractiveness would be readjusted

The evaluation of this relationship has emerged as an important area of research. Public interest groups and academic organizations throughout the world are recognizing the importance of STS. The reason is that people need to recognize that there are people who are affected by the science and technology. Controversies such as modified foods, stem cell research are the issues that have brought policy makers and scientists together to have a way forward on this.

Science and technology has actually largely contributed to the vision of man about himself. Science has been modified the opinion about the origin of man and place of origin too. Through the results of scientific discoveries the perception of man about his behavior and his place of origin has been modified diversly. What would your perfect world, utopia/eutopia look like? Science, technology, art, culture, religion society?

What would your perfect world, utopia/eutopia look like? Science, technology, art, culture, religion society How would you design your eutopa or utopia, your perfect world. What would be the government, society, technology, and culture? Actually More's original Utopia isn't so bad. A tad limited by the 16th century, but generally quite agreeable. Actually quite a few dystopias especially Brave New World, don't seem so bad either. And I would love to live in won of Ayn Rand's "collectivist" dystopias. So how would you design your earthly paradise?

Unless you have challenges for mankind built into the system we will gradually degenerate. One of the more interesting utopias was described by Robert Graves in Let the North Wind Rise.

Is a 'Science, technology, & society' bachelor's degree from NC State a good idea?

I don't know what I want to do but that I want a degree so that I can go to Japan and just travel really. I'm a a non-traditional student. The not-so-helpful advisor at my CC tells me that this is a way to get a degree quickly and to ensure a good job considering this is a liberal studies degree. What do you think?

You may get a job teaching English in Japan. This degree, in and of itself, will not lead to any specific career field in the US of which I am aware. Ask the CC advisor what jobs this degree will lead to. If s/he cannot answer, my statement will be confirmed. Good luck and best wishes.

How have batteries influenced society and technology?

How have batteries influenced society and technology, Or how has society/technology influenced batteries. Thanks

they have helped better each other, batteries have helped create a micro machine industry in the fact that we can now take our electronics where ever we please if we have the right battery, and therefore can make things that don't need standard electrical jacks, and can therefore be smaller. this has opened up a new research aspect of science, in how to create newer smaller batteries that can last longer that can create even more possibility for freedom to roam with your electronic device, they both contribute to each other in the fact that they allow advancements to occur in the opposite. Good luck with what ever you need this for :)

How have humans impacted the world in science, technology, society and environment?

I need at least 3 examples of each, but even one of each will do! Thank You!

Science: We created drugs and new species (banana) we constantly discover new things and put them to use but of course it is the use and not the discovery that CHANGES science since gravity exists whether we know about it or not. technology: Well besides a few tools using animals we ARE the creators of technology; communications, transportation being 2 of the biggest I can think of society: We have increase the ability of groups to gather from small tribes to now large cities due to agriculture and many other factors. We have created language to communicate our thoughts and written language and art to continue past our deaths or over distance. Environment: we've been causing mass extinction since we left Africa. We have fished the oceans to near extinction, caused massive algae bloom, acidified lakes, increased the levels of carbon dioxide and of every synthetic toxin in the environment and up the food chain.
